Irvine Carpet Cleaner’s Water Restoration Services
Water damage is a major problem, and one that most households are not equipped to handle on their own. Restoring water damaged carpets and floors requires specialized equipment and training. That is why you need to call in the professionals to quickly and effectively restore your water damaged floors.
When you call in one of Irvine’s specially trained water restoration teams, the first step will be to perform an assessment on the level and type of damage. These two factors need to be determined in order to ensure the safety of your family and the proper treatment of the affected areas.
The type of damage your home has suffered is important to note. Generally, water damage is classified in three categories. Category I damage was caused by clean water such as a burst water pipe or leaking fixture. Category II damage would be caused by water that has contaminates in it such as from a washing machine or an overflowing toilet (with no solid waste.) Category III damage is caused by contact with grossly unsanitary water such as sewage. If your home is affected with category III water damage all affected areas will require replacement.
The Clean Up-
Once it has been established that the source of the water damage has been dealt with, water restoration teams go to work.
The first step is to remove any standing or surface water. Technicians will go through with powerful vacuums designed to handle large volumes of water.
If the floor was affected with non sterile water, it is vital to disinfect the surface. The team will use special equipment and safe, environmentally friendly disinfectant products to ensure that no harmful organisms remain within the affected area.
At this point the carpet will be pulled up to remove the carpet padding. Removal of the padding is necessary because, by its nature, it is highly vulnerable to growth of mold which can have a foul odor and is potential harmful to your health. The sub-floor will also likely need to be cleaned and disinfected once the padding is removed.
Once the padding is removed, the carpet will be raised off the floor on blocks and special high powered fans will be set up in the affected areas to rapidly dry out the carpet. Depending on the type of carpet and the level of damage, the drying process can take from about 12 hours to to several days.
Once your carpet is dry, it is ready to be re-installed with fresh carpet padding, leaving your floors as good as new!
